How to Operate Bulk Image Compressor
Reduce image file sizes using client-side Canvas 2D quantization, OffscreenCanvas, and Web Worker image re-encoding. Zero photos are sent to cloud servers.
- 1 Drop a batch of photos (JPEG, PNG, WebP) or click to browse up to 50 files.
- 2 Choose your desired output format (WebP recommended, JPEG, PNG, or Keep Original).
- 3 Adjust the quality compression slider (10%–100%) and optional max width/height dimensions.
- 4 Click "Compress Images" to process all images in parallel off the main UI thread.
- 5 Inspect individual before/after visual quality comparisons and bandwidth savings.
- 6 Download individual compressed files or export the entire batch in a single ZIP archive.
Example Input & Output
portfolio-hero.png (4.2 MB — 3840×2160 px)
portfolio-hero.webp (480 KB — 1920×1080 px — 88.5% reduction)
Supported Inputs
- JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg) photographic files
- PNG (.png) transparent and raster graphic assets
- WebP (.webp) next-gen high-efficiency web images
- AVIF (.avif) modern compressed images (where supported by browser)
Browser Technical Limits
- Batch processing is capped at 50 images and 200 MB total per session to ensure browser memory safety.
- Single image file size limit is 50 MB.
- Apple HEIC/HEIF photos are reserved for our separate dedicated HEIC to JPG Converter.
- SVG and animated GIF/APNG files are not supported for lossy quantization.
- PNG format compression is lossless; the quality slider applies to lossy formats (JPEG and WebP).
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Bulk Image Compressor, formats, and privacy guarantees.
How does UtilityHub compress images without uploading them to any server?
UtilityHub operates entirely in your browser using modern Web APIs: the Canvas 2D context, OffscreenCanvas, createImageBitmap, and dedicated Web Workers. Your image files are decoded into memory, resized on a virtual raster canvas, and re-encoded directly on your device. Zero bytes ever leave your computer.
What is the recommended compression quality setting?
We recommend 75% to 85% quality for general web and photographic use. At this level, human eyes generally perceive zero visible degradation, while file size is typically reduced by 60% to 85%.
Why should I convert my images to WebP format?
WebP provides superior lossless and lossy compression for images on the web. Compared to standard JPEG and PNG files of comparable visual quality, WebP images are typically 25% to 35% smaller and natively support alpha channel transparency.
How are transparent PNG images handled when converting to JPEG?
Because the JPEG format does not support an alpha (transparency) channel, transparent pixels would appear black if unhandled. UtilityHub automatically renders a solid background color (white by default, or any color you choose in settings) beneath your image before saving as JPEG.
Does resizing reduce image quality?
Downscaling an image reduces its pixel dimensions (for example, from 4K to 1080p), which significantly decreases file size while preserving high visual sharpness when viewed at standard display sizes. UtilityHub strictly preserves the original aspect ratio and never upscales smaller images.
Can I download all compressed images at once?
Yes! UtilityHub bundles all compressed images into a single ZIP archive client-side using pure JavaScript, allowing you to download your entire batch with a single click.
