Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about CSV Duplicate Remover, formats, and privacy guarantees.
How does the duplicate detection algorithm work?
UtilityHub checks rows either across all columns or against only the columns you designate. By default, it preserves the first unique occurrence it encounters and drops subsequent duplicates while maintaining the relative row order.
Does trimming whitespace modify my exported CSV cells?
No. Trimming whitespace only normalizes cell values temporarily when calculating comparison hashes. Your exported CSV file retains the exact, original untrimmed text inside every cell.
Can I deduplicate by a specific key like Email or Customer ID?
Yes. Switch the comparison mode from "Entire Row" to "Selected Columns". You can then check only the columns (such as Email or ID) that define uniqueness for your dataset.
How are commas and quotes inside cells handled?
The parser strictly complies with RFC 4180 standards. Values enclosed in double quotes containing commas, escaped quotes (""), or embedded newlines are preserved accurately.
Is my spreadsheet data secure and private?
100% private. All processing takes place locally inside your web browser via Web Workers. No file data or CSV contents are ever uploaded to any server or external API.
